GHANAIANS ENJOY A LOT FROM BIODIVERSITY BUT DO NOT PROTECT IT

The Director of the Environmental protection agency in the Sissala East Municipality Mr Salifu Wahab on the occasion of the World Environment day celebration complained that,Ghanaian in general benefits from the biodiversity ranging from food, shelter and among others but less efforts is made to protect it from extension.

Mr Wahab highlighted, its through biodiversity of which local medicines are extracted for the prevention of illement and it is observed that, globally, over eighty percent of local medicines are plant based and apart from the food, “we also get shelter from biodeversity, there are whole lots of benefits we get from biodeversity and so its comes down to sustainable use of this biodeversity, if care is not taken,we will get loss of them because by nature human being are greedy,we want more and more without replacing what we have taken”.

He advocated that “sincre human being know the importance of biodeversity, the existence of it should be an utmost importance to making frantic efforts to protecting it from getting extinct”.
