Sissala East targets 10% more in the 2020 electoral roll

The Electoral Commission in Sissala East is expecting to have an increase of the current voter population by 10 percent.

This is expected to increase the current thirty-four thousand six hundred and forty-nine to about 10% after the end of the compilation of the register 2020.

“As others have passed to eternity some persons have also turned 18years and are encouraged to register.It could also serve as a home coming for some residents who have travelled “,Mr Lulua stressed

Speaking to the Registration Supervisor for the Commission in the Sissala East Municipality, Mr Lulua K Mohammed who confirmed that, “materials and personnel are ready for the start of the registration exercise tomorrow. Mr Lulua added that, some of the official of the commission have already gone to their registration centers to start the process.

The Electoral Commission would begin the process of registering Ghanaian citizen who are eighteen years and above and of sound mind onto the new voter register in preparation towards the 2020 election.
The registration which is expected to be conducted using the cluster system would start with nine polling stations and would be rotated after six days of conducting the exercise in a polling station.

He noted that “we are expecting an increase of 10% to the total voter population; currently we are having a total of thirty-four thousand six hundred and forty-nine”. He added that, there are high expectants of people travelling into the municipality to register due to importance people attached to increase the number of people within a location for the benefit of receiving development projects from Government.
Mr. Lulua noted that, “each applicant would be required to at least present either a passport or a Ghana card to be allowed to register or come along with a guarantor if anyone doesn’t have anyone of the above mentioned. He clarified that any one that registers can join to vouch for ten more persons using the voter ID car procured and not the Ghana card.Registration would start at 7am and end at 6pm”.
