Make rules to govern successions to skins to reduce Chieftaincy related disputes – Dr Hafiz Bin Sali urges Chiefs

The Upper West Regional Minsiter, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has urged the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs to come-out with codification of rules that would govern succession to skins when a Chief passes on.

The Minister believes that such a development would help deal with the spate of Chieftaincy related disputes that usually arise-out of the passing of a Chief.

“I suggest that the House comes out with codification of rules governing the succession to skins in the respective traditional areas so as to reduce the spate of chieftaincy disputes arising-out of the passing on of a chief”, the Minister has said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hafiz Bin Sali has commended the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs for the many Chieftaincy issues the House was able to work-out before the escalated into uncontrollable levels.

He however entreated them to continue to work hard to resolve other Chieftaincy disputes so that all areas would have their traditional rulers to facilitate development in the region.

“While commending you for your quick intervention in chieftaincy disputes, I continue to appeal to the House to work hard to resolve all the pockets of chieftaincy disputes in the region so that all settlements in the region will have their traditional rulers to facilitate development”, he urges Chiefs.

He was speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of Gandawi Paramount Chief, Kuoro Osman Deiwia Nankpa III at the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs in Wa yesterday, June 25, 2020.
