Sissala East: NPP youth launches “Friends of Chinnia Amidu, FoCA”

Date: August 8, 2020

A group of young people numbering about 232 affiliated with the New Patriotic Party, NPP has, on August 7, 2020, at the Tumu Community Center, launched a youth wing christened “Friends of Chinnia Amidu, FOCA” in the run-up to the December 2020 general elections.

The youth drawn from different communities in the Sissala East Municipality is seeking to consolidate themselves and contribute to efforts being made by the party to secure victory for the Parliamentary candidate who is also the Deputy Regional Minister for the Upper West region, Issahaku Amidu Chinnia and party’s Presidential candidate, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

Speaking during the launch, the President of FOCA, Mr. Quanda Osman Mohammed has said they are a group of people who are looking for a good leader to serve as the next Member of Parliament after December 2020 general elections.

Consequently, he and the rest of the members have joined hands to support Issahaku Amidu Chinnia with the sole mission of securing victory for him.

“We are a youth who wants a good leader for us. What we wish to see come 2020 elections is for Chinnia and Akufo Addo to be in power”, he said

FOCA President, Mr. Quander Osman Mohammed has also expressed optimism that Issahaku Amidu Chinnia if given the nod would come to their rescue more particularly in terms of education. He also requested for an office where the youth wing could hold meetings.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Candidate, Issahaku Amidu Chinnia has admonished them to collaborate with all party structures to ensure their smooth operations.

“I want to state that FOCA is not a replacement of community polling station executives. Upon your entry into every community, first and foremost announce your arrival to the party structures there. You are being formed to complement what we are doing….. anything other than that I may call for your dissolution”, he warns.

He also advised party structures to work openly with them and desist from causing hindrances that could undermine the work of the youth wing so that collectively they would secure victory.

Also, addressing a large crowd of members and party sympathizers, he urged them to avoid politics of hatred and insults, and stop tagging people in their party as supporters of either him or Ridwan Abass Dawuda, the incumbent M.P who lost the NPP 2020 primaries to him.

While refuting social media claims suggesting that the event was organized to launch his campaign manifesto, Issahaku Amidu Chinnia has asked the leadership of the wing for extension of FOCA to every community in the Constituency.

On the demand for an office, he said he has taken the concern into a note, and that they would support FOCA with whatever they need to work with.
