Sissala East: PNC hits back at defectors

The Sissala East Constituency Executives of the People’s National Convention(PNC) has taken a swipe at defectors who left the party to join the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The defectors, numbering about 80, who revealed this during a press briefing held on December 2, 2020 in Tumu, have alleged that they were neglected and sidelined by the PNC in the Constituency.

However, the Sissala East Constituency Chairman of the PNC, Mr. Alendu Imoro has cleared that the leader of the defectors, Alhaji Moro Ahmed left the party during the 2016 elections to support the incumbent MP Ridwan Abass Dauda and stood as party agent at his home town.

While describing Alhaji Baba Pele’s actions as unfortunate, Mr. Alendu Imoro added that he was also appointed by the NPP government as a member of the Municipal Assembly members.

The Chairman further indicated that all the defectors are not PNC members and that Baba Pele may be doing business by the claims to have left the party with 80 to 150 members.

He continued and said “though not a suprise but worrying, initial indoors meetings held by Baba Pele was leaked to us by some people who were called to the meeting” Mr. Alendu Imoro has expressed.
He said some of the suposed defectors were giving 30 cedis and a machete each which is not enough to lead someone out from the PNC.
