2020 Elections: NDC wins big in Sissala West; beats NPP in both parliamentary and presidential elections

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won big in the Sissala West Constituency, beating the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in both the parliamentary and presidential elections.

The party has beaten the NPP with about 3,737 votes to recapture the Sissala West parliamentary seat.

Also, the NDC beat the NPP in the Constituency Presidential elections with about 4,647 votes. The MP – elect, Mr. Mohammed Adams Sukparu was declared the winner by the EC’s Sissala West Constituency Returning Officer, Mr. Haruna Alhassan at the District Police Station on December 8, 2020 at around 7:30 am.

He had beaten his closerst NPP counterpart, a one time District Chief Executive (DCE), who served between November 2007 and 2008, for the Sissala West District, Mr. Salifu Naluwie Baluwie.

This was the first attempts by both candidates, (Mohammed Adams Sukparu and Salifu Naluwie Baluwie) racing to go to the House of Parliament of Ghana to represent the Sissala West Constituency.

The EC’s certified results for the Sissala West Parliamentary and Presidential elections are as follows:

NPP – 13,994

NDC – 17,731

NDP – 176

Total valid votes – 31,901

Total rejected ballots – 758

Total votes cast – 32,659

Presidential:

NPP – 12, 952

NDC – 17, 599
